Learie is a business professional with procurement, supply chain and engineering expertise obtained from over 30 years in the FMCG, chemicals and property sectors. Amongst the companies for which he has worked are Unilever Plc and Ecolab Inc where he had a number of senior manufacturing and supply chain roles, as well as leading global and regional teams. His most recent position was Vice President Engineering – Supply Chain Europe for Ecolab.

Learie is passionate about promoting the role of SME manufacturing in the UK economy and identifying strategies to help them enhance their competitiveness and maximise value creation. He also believes in the development of people as a driver of continuous improvement and sustained business profitability. Other professional interest include being a visiting lecturer in procurement, supply chain and operations management at universities, and volunteer tutoring of disadvantaged students at secondary schools.
