Guidelines for Awards Nominations
Before submitting a nomination, please ensure the following:
- Judging Categories: Your nominee must align with at least one of the judging categories.
- Eligibility: For all categories except Sector Activist, nominees must hold an active role in a company with UK-based manufacturing operations.
- Self-Nominations: Individuals are welcome to nominate themselves.
- Re-Nominations: Individuals can be nominated again after a three-year gap from their last nomination. The new submission should highlight their recent achievements during this period.
- Informing Nominees: Please notify your nominee of your submission and ensure you provide their valid contact information.
- Evidence-Based Submissions: Support your nomination with clear evidence. For example, if the nominee has increased company turnover, include specific figures. If they are dedicated to apprenticeships or training, provide examples. If they are a diversity champion, reference relevant affiliations or achievements.
Top Tips from our Judges
Our team of elite and highly experienced judges have offered their ‘top tips’ for nominations:
- Avoid using acronyms to prevent any misunderstandings.
- Make it tangible: When describing the nominee’s achievements, try to include quantitative data such as financial impacts, time saved, additional business acquired, or the number of individuals affected by their actions.
- Highlight contributions beyond normal work: Consider what sets the nominee apart from their peers. Judges are looking for individuals who go above and beyond their normal duties or who are involved in something innovative or radical.
- Aim for the word limit: Shorter entries usually don’t provide the judges with enough information, but beware of overshooting.
- Seek feedback from an outsider: Get a trusted friend – who doesn’t know your business, to read the nomination. If it makes sense to them, it will make sense to the judges.
